A Message from the President of the Board of Trustees

Dear Friends,

As we head into the Thanksgiving holidays, I am happy to update you on our Head of School search. The Executive Committee has met to form a Search Committee which includes faculty members, current parent trustees and representatives of the administration, the Caedmon Family Association and alumn parents. It is a very diverse and professional team of community members who are genuinely committed to serving our children and the future of this extraordinary school. We have taken care to have trustee parents with children in a range of grade levels. As you can imagine, the search will require a serious commitment of time and effort. Some of these individuals are reworking their schedules and making certain they have the necessary support in order to commit themselves for the long-term. As soon as each member has signed on I will introduce you to our Search Committee.

The Executive Committee is also interviewing consultants from top search firms with extensive experience in the independent school world and working out the search timeline. Dr. B continues to offer his wisdom. There are a few procedures that will require approval from the Board of Trustees and a full board meeting has been set for Thursday, December 9th. After that date you will have all of the specifics regarding the search and will address any questions and concerns to the members of the Search Committee.

In the meantime, I have asked the Board's nine current parent trustees to make themselves available to you at drop-off and pick-up. Please look for them as they are very eager to answer your questions. These trustees are: Kwame Ampofo, Dr. Greg DiFelice, John Evans, Prashant Gandhi, Stephanie Kempf, Moon Kim, John Kim, Anna Winderbaum and Lloyd Zuckerberg. In addition, Amy Chatterjee and Joanne Gambone, the chairs of the Caedmon Family Association, are always available and have up-to-date information.

It is worth repeating that Dr. B intends to visit Caedmon after spring break this school year, next August and again in January of 2012 to help guide the parents of the current fourth graders through the middle school placement process.

We are off to an exciting start in our search. Please know that the Board of Trustees is committed to making the transition run as smoothly as possible. I am inspired by the responses from the Search Committee members who see their roles as a privilege and who have expressed their intentions to give the task their all.

Enjoy your holiday,

Stephanie Kempf
