Discovery Summer Camp Groups
Our Groups and programs:
The groups are divided by age, which determines the number of trips and the types of programs offered each week. All trips take place Mondays through Thursdays, with Fridays reserved for an in-house all-camp event.
Ages 2.9-3: Our hopping, happy “Staten Island Frogs” is our half-day group. They will have a once-weekly, in-house special activity and participate in Special Event Fridays.
Age 4: Our fun-loving, eager “Brooklyn Beavers.” This group will have weekly special activities and go on one trip at the end of the summer.
Age 5: Our swinging, spunky “Manhattan Monkeys.” This group will go on one trip a week.
Ages 6-7: Our curious, busy “Bronx Bees.” This group will take two trips per week.
Ages 8-11: Our quizzical, adventurous “Queens Penguins.” This, our largest group, will be divided into Junior Penguins, ages 8-9, and Senior Penguins, ages 10-12. These groups will go on three trips each week.
Our newest camp option for the Queens Penguins is "Rookie Camp". The oldest campers will experience a week at sleep away camp at a premiere camp in Pennsylvania. For more information please contact the Camp office at 212-879-2297 or by email: Discovery Camp
When campers are not on a trip, they will have a full complement of fun activities in Caedmon’s four-story building. Highly skilled counselors will guide them in swimming, arts and crafts, cooking, dance and movement, yoga, music, science, tennis, computers, and, of course, sports and games in the gym and outdoor courtyard. The three youngest groups will also have water play 2-3 times a week.

Once a week, the whole camp will participate in a special All-Camp Themed Event with fun-filled activities. These may include:

- Talent Day
- Backward Day
- Music Performance Day
- Carnival Day
- We Love New York Day!
- Create Your Own Sundae Day
