Why did you choose to send your child to The Caedmon School?
Caedmon embodies the nurturing and stimulating atmosphere in which a passion for knowledge and learning can be ignited in a child. This, coupled with the internationally diverse community and high quality teachers, was the key driver for our decision to send our child to Caedmon.

On the school tour, we met two fabulous 5th grade students who showed us around. They were polite, poised and well-spoken, but yet they were still clearly children, not young teen-agers. This is how we wanted our own child to be at the end of elementary school. We understood then that sending our children to a true elementary schools was really important, because it would allow them to grow without the daily pressure to keep up with the middle-schoolers.

We chose Caedmon because we were looking for a school that seemed intimate and focused on the individual needs of the child. We believed our oldest daughter, who would be entering the Beginners program at the time, was very sensitive and would require a gentle and caring approach. That is exactly what she was provided. We also wanted a school that had a somewhat flexible teaching style while still providing structure while promoting the individual talents of the child.

Now that your family is part of the community, what are the reasons that you are happy with the school?
We are extremely satisfied with the manner each child is embraced and nurtured. Each child has different strengths and areas for development. we feel that the teachers (past and present) recognize and reinforce this with each student. We feel that our daughter’s teachers support her, guide her and promote her self-confidence. We see this outside the classroom as she interacts with her friends, family and neighbors. Also, we are surprised to find many new friends at Caedmon. Not only is our daughter receiving great attention and guidance, we have developed great relationships/friendships with other parents of Caedmon students. Since our focus was our daughter and the school, we did not anticipate this at all.

We wanted our children to have an elementary school experience. Our choice was substantiated this year when were invited to the 5th grade graduation ceremony. We were impressed by the poise, self-confidence, and accomplishments of the graduating children. It was evident that they were complete with their elementary experience and were excited to begin their chosen on-going schools.

Reasons that I am happy with Caedmon are the individual attention each child receives and the way that each child is made to feel that they matter. The small size of the classes and the school mean that children have opportunities to participate, to contribute, and to be noticed that they would never have had in a larger school. How did Caedmon support your family during the Middle School admissions process?
We had a very positive experience applying and gaining admission to continuing schools for both of our daughters. The teachers and staff were extremely helpful in finding the right schools for each of them, and were supportive and available for every step of the process. The children are worked with closely to prepare them for tests and interviews, and to keep the experience as stress-free as possible. Our older daughter transitioned seamlessly into middle school after her time at Caedmon. Coming from such a warm and nurturing environment allowed her to move into the next phase of her education with great ease and confidence. She is excelling academically, and very happy socially. We are looking forward to a similar experience with her younger sister next year.

We are delighted with the results of our daughter’s Middle School placement process and have Caedmon to thank for our success. The Caedmon staff deserves the highest accolades for making the ongoing school placement process a pleasure. Dr. Blackburn is personally involved working closely with Upper Level students and their families. He and his team provide every family with individualized advice and guidance to find the right ongoing school for each child. The Upper Level teachers did a remarkable job preparing the students for each step of the process including: preparing applications, taking the ISEE and going on interviews. Our daughter went on her interviews feeling confident and excited about “choosing” her next school.
The admissions staff we met at the various schools repeatedly told us how impressed they are with Caedmon students. Caedmon students are uniquely prepared both academically and socially to easily transition into Middle School. Madison and her classmates were actively sought after by all of the city’s top private and public school programs. It was truly amazing to go through this process with our daughter and to see the results of how she has grown and matured during her years at Caedmon.
