In September 2025, Caedmon welcomed eggs to our our science classroom. After 21 days, the first chick hatched, and soon, a total of 10 fluffy new friends joined the Caedmon family.
In the weeks that followed, Caedmon students got a front-row seat to the miracle of life—learning all about incubation, hatching, and the life cycle of baby chickens. On October 20, our farmers took the flock upstate, where they’ll live happy lives as egg-laying hens and proud roosters. And we can’t wait to do it all again next year!
A heartfelt thank you to Caedmon’s Science Teacher, Mr. Schlessinger, for coordinating this wonderful experience for our students—and for his daily care of the chicks!

Elizabeth “Betsy” Zuppone was a Caedmon parent and mother of Michael Jr., Class of 2009. Betsy served as the Co-President of the Caedmon Family Association from 2004 to 2007 and later on the Board of Trustees from 2010 to 2015.
Betsy set an amazing standard for her dedication as a parent and passionate commitment to Caedmon, exemplifying selfless service.
The Caedmon School established the Betsy Zuppone Swimming Program for Kindergartners in honor of Betsy and her commitment to youth swimming and water safety. Each week, Kindergarten goes to Goldfish Swim School for swimming lessons to help grow their confidence - both in and out of the water!
The Caedmon School extends its deepest gratitude to Betsy’s husband, Michael, whose lead gift helped establish this initiative, as well as to her family, Caedmon community members, and the many friends who have supported it.

Our science classroom welcomed a slithery new friend in September – Cornelius the Corn Snake! Cornelius gives students a hands-on way to explore biology, animal behavior, and responsible pet care. Having a live classroom animal sparks curiosity, fosters interactive learning, and deepens students’ appreciation for the natural world.
